MEET THE TEAM
Nick set up Sweeney Architects in 2006. Prior to that he had 15 years’ experience in architecture and project management. Nick worked previously as lead architect for ORS/Marlin Architects, Project Architect for Ashlin Coleman Architects and Galdevar Project Management as well as for Belgravia Developments as a project manager.Nick’s experience includes retail, brand development, large mixed-use schemes, hotel and leisure, planning, design, building fitout, pharmaceutical, industrial master planning, design and detailing, healthcare and residential developments. An architect by degree, Nicholas is also a qualified Project Manager, physical planner and a Grade III Conservation Architect.
Teresa’s crucial role in the company is multi-faceted. She works across many disciplines to ensure that every member of the team follows up on project process as deadlines appear on the horizon. Crucially Teresa’s role across UH tendering ensures best quality purchase power from sub-contractors. She further carries the company’s administration, as well as organising in-house training and H&S. Often at the end of the telephone, Teresa is a crucial link when members of the team are out of the office, ensuring the team is kept up to date at all times. This powerhouse of efficiency, when not in the office, is Carrickedmond GAA’s number one supporter.
Senior Architectural Technician
Adrian has over 15 years’ experience working with both public and private clients. Specialist and heritage projects including helipads, a Norman village, marinas and healthcare projects - Adrian’s range of experience is formidable. He is extremely skilled in procurement for both public and private projects (open and restricted processes) for both service contracts and works contracts – from four figures right up to multi-million euro housing, educational, healthcare and tourism projects. In addition, his specialisation comes to the fore in macro level detail design of how different systems of construction integrate successfully to provide a lasting solution that keeps the occupants of a building warm & dry by balancing insulation and ventilation requirements. Adrian is a real water baby. When he’s not working on projects, he can be found water skiing, swimming – in fact, any sport that involves water.
Michael Frayne graduated from IT Sligo in July 1991 with a Level 7 award in Construction Economics. He joined Sweeney Architects in 2018. He is an energetic and dedicated Technician with particular expertise in the development of comprehensive Planning and Tender documentation. He has worked in a number of key areas to date including Educational, Health and Domestic. He has extensive experience in construction and CAD using applications such as AutoCAD and ArchiCad. Michael is a methodical and practical thinker and applies these attributes to every project. He provides essential support to the Sweeney Architects team. In addition to his love for design, Michael is a passionate Wedding Videographer and has travelled all over the Country capturing special memories for couples that only come once in a lifetime.
Director Ursula has been with Sweeney Architects from the very start and comes from a marketing background. She has worked in Belgium to take a small start-up company through to become the leading broadband wireless provider, not only in Europe but across across eleven countries. She has, in addition to this venture, managed catering outlets and specialist provision stores. Within Sweeney Architects, Ursula manages projects and large-scale training programmes. Administration, fee proposals, budgets and timelines are all under Ursula’s scrutiny and she takes fierce pride ensuring clients projects come in on time and within budget. She understands that objectives and input from the client are crucial to the success of each project. Ursula is currently researching the range of Irish heritage apple varieties which she plans to introduce for use in her new apple juice and cider-making venture.
Ramon brings more than twenty years’ experience as an architectural technician. After completing his B.Sc in Architecture at Adamson University, Manila, Philippines, Ramon worked on residential and commercial projects in Malaysia and Singapore. Important projects have included Sheraton Park Hotel and National Sports Stadium, Malaysia. With twenty years’ experience as a technician behind him in Ireland, Ramon has worked with numerous clients including Patterson Pumps Mullingar, Starbucks and Dealz. Ramon currently specialises in the design of domestic, residential, civic, healthcare, education and commercial developments.
Health & Safety Consultant
Local boy, Francis, who qualified at UCD, assists the team with Health and Safety. He brings experience from construction, manufacturing, food and utilities industries. He has worked for both PSDP and PSCS. When Francis is not ensuring that high quality materials, safe practices and and environmental considerations are paramount throughout our projects, he can be found playing football for Carrickedmond, and preparing international cuisine.
April graduated from Dublin School of Architecture with a Bachelor of Architecture (BArch), level 8 honours degree. She is an Architectural Graduate Member of the RIAI and undergoing her professional diploma in University College Dublin. April is experienced in applications such as AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator. April has very diverse hobbies ranging from painting to golfing to hiking.
Marie is a qualified chartered accountant and has spent her career working in industry partnering businesses. She has worked with start-ups and growing businesses of all sizes and across all industries. She brings over 25 years’ experience of financial strategy and management to Sweeney Architects. When she is not counting the beans she can be found walking the by-roads of Westmeath with her two dogs Sam and Steve.
